New machine boosts circularity at Proferro

Proferro has recently commissioned a new core crusher.

Cores play an essential role in the production of complex, hollow castings. With the new core crusher, non-conforming cores and uncured sand can be reused. These cores are mechanically broken down in the new machine, releasing the sand in a fine and reusable form. The recovered sand can then be reintroduced as a raw material in the production process.

This installation represents an important step toward making our production processes more sustainable, and aligns with the principles of environmental management and circularity, as set out in the ISO 14001 standard, which Proferro achieved in 2025.

With this investment, we are not only reducing our waste streams but also using our raw materials more efficiently. This approach means we are taking another important step on the path to a more circular and sustainable way of working.
