New containers for the environmentally friendly coatings of our cores

At Proferro, we recently invested in new containers for the coating of our cores. These are custom-made and composed of stainless steel, which allows our operators to work more ergonomically. Furthermore, the containers are easier to clean than the previous ones. Other benefits include noise and cost reduction as the new electric motors make less noise compared to the old pneumatic motors and require less maintenance.

The quality of the coatings has also improved. This is thanks to the rounded mixing arm at the bottom of the containers, which ensures better mixing and, therefore, optimal homogeneity of the coatings.

Moreover, the coatings applied to cores are water-based. They consist of refractory components, a binder, and a carrier fluid (water), and serve to protect our cores. In fact, the coating prevents the hot cast iron from entering the cores.

Water-based coatings not only contribute to a cost-efficient and environmentally friendly process but also ensure the safety and health of our employees.

By using this production method, our aim is to make our production process even more sustainable and reduce our carbon footprint.
